Comments

When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


Media

If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from images published on the site.


Cookies

  • If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These last for one year.
  • If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
  • When you log in, we set cookies to save your login information and screen display preferences. Login cookies last two days, screen option cookies last one year, and if you select “Remember Me” your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.
  • If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved, containing the post ID of the article. It expires after one day.

Articles on Faktet may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you visited that website directly. These websites may collect data, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with their content.


Who We Share Your Data With

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.


How Long We Retain Your Data

  • Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
  • For registered users (if any), we store personal information provided in their user profile. Users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except username). Administrators can also see and edit that information.

What Rights You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account on our site or have left comments, you can request:

  • An exported file of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Erasure of any personal data we hold about you.

This does not include data we are required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
